Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

Groupings ("we", "us", "our") is developed and operated by Josh Bradley, based in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what information the Groupings app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Groupings you agree to this policy.

Groupings is available on the Apple App Store. You can play as a guest without an account; some information is only collected if you sign in or make a purchase, as described below.

1. Information we collect

Account information. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and a unique account identifier. Your account is assigned an automatically generated username (for example, a random combination of words and numbers), which is shown to other players on the leaderboards. You can change it in Settings once every 30 days; names must be unique and are checked against a list of blocked words. If you play as a guest, no account information is collected.

Gameplay data. We store your progress, coins, streaks, hearts, puzzle results and leaderboard scores, so it can sync across your devices and appear on leaderboards. Your leaderboard entry shows your username, your score and whether you have Groupings Plus (shown as a badge).

Advertising and device data. Groupings shows ads through Google AdMob. To do this, AdMob may collect device identifiers (including your advertising identifier), approximate location inferred from your IP address, and information about your interaction with ads. We do not collect your precise (GPS) location.

Reports. If you report another player, we store the report so we can review it: your account identifier, the other player's identifier and username, the reason, any note you add and the date. Reports are only visible to us. If a report is made about you, we keep a record of it and of any action we take.

Diagnostics. We collect crash reports and basic performance data (for example, device model and operating system version) to find and fix bugs.

Usage data. We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used and to balance the game, for example which game modes are played, results, how coins and hearts are earned and spent, and when Groupings Plus or a puzzle pack is offered or bought (we never see your payment details). This includes an app-instance identifier and basic device and app information. Where consent is required (in the UK and EU), analytics only run if you agree, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy options.

Bug reports. If you report a bug (signed-in players only), we store your account identifier, the type of problem you chose, any note you add, your app version, iOS version, device model, language, whether you have Groupings Plus, and the date. Bug reports are only visible to us and are used to find and fix problems.

Friend codes. If you use or share a friend code, we store a code linked to your account, and a record that links the two accounts (who invited whom and when) so each side can receive their reward. Only the two players involved and we can see that record.

Purchases. If you buy Groupings Plus, the payment is processed by Apple. We receive confirmation of the purchase but never see your card details.

2. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • provide the game, save your progress and run the leaderboards;
  • process and restore in-app purchases;
  • show and measure advertising;
  • diagnose crashes and improve reliability, performance and safety;
  • understand how the app is used, balance the game and deliver settings such as minimum app version and terms updates;
  • review bug reports and fix problems;
  • review reports and enforce our community rules so the leaderboards stay safe, including contacting you by email if we need more information about a report you made or one made about you.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Third-party services

Groupings uses the following third-party services, which may process data as described in their own privacy policies:

  • Google AdMob, for advertising
  • Google Firebase, for Authentication, Cloud Firestore (data storage), Remote Config (app settings such as minimum version and terms updates), Crashlytics (crash reporting) and Analytics
  • Google Sign-In, for optional sign-in
  • Sign in with Apple, for optional sign-in
  • Apple App Store / StoreKit, for in-app purchases

4. Advertising

Ads are provided by Google AdMob and may be personalised based on the data described above. In the UK and EU, whether you see personalised ads depends on the consent choice you make when you first open the app; you can change this choice at any time in Settings → Privacy options. You can also limit ad personalisation in your device settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising, and by resetting or limiting your advertising identifier). Purchasing Groupings Plus removes all ads from the app.

5. Data storage and security

Your account and gameplay data are stored using Google Firebase. We take reasonable, commercially acceptable steps to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as you use the app. You can delete your account and associated data at any time from within Groupings (Settings → Delete Account), or by emailing us at the address below and we will delete it for you. Reports are kept only for as long as we need them to review the report and enforce our rules.

7. Your rights

If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

8. International transfers

The third-party services above (including Google and Apple) may process and store data on servers outside the UK. Where this happens, those providers are relied upon to protect your data in line with applicable data protection law.

9. Children's privacy

Groupings is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Continuing to use Groupings after a change means you accept the updated policy.

11. Contact us

If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at Groupingshello@gmail.com.
